Shot on 16mm black and white film, this short written and directed by Joseph Cash, explores anguish and loneliness. A single monologue delivered in one take, a fisherman talks to his brother through the camera while the wall behind him burns.
Inspired by the Terra Nova Expedition, I sourced sweaters, jackets, and pants with natural fibers. I waxed and distressed every piece - sewing small patches and mending holes in the sweater to achieve this look. The makeup was designed to mimic months of wind and sunburn, hair and beard design was practical with saltwater spray and natural hair oils.
